The program opened with Flotow's Alessandro Stradella at nine, followed by a grand march at ten. Floral decorations were noted as beautiful and the music praised. few guests wore masks.

General Brieye de V Isle reports French forces advanced from Dongson on the 10th, defeated Chinese near Wandi on the 11th and 12th, stormed forts, reached Langson after a rapid march, found it evacuated and burning, and captured arms and provisions. French losses since the 9th total 39 killed and 222 wounded.

John Parsell longtime lead old man of Union Square Theatre died suddenly of apoplexy at his Sixteenth Street home. He appeared in A Prisoner for Life last night and was photographed in costume before the stroke. Parsell, age sixty three, was of Scotch origin and came to America in 1866 with Charles Windham's company. He later joined Mrs John Drew's Arch Street Theatre and, since 1874, starred in The Two Orphans and other Union Square productions. His wife died three years ago, and his mind suffered but did not stop his performances.

Mamie Hasson sixteen-year-old? The dogs devoured meat she carried and ripped her clothes as they mauled her face and hands. Two men drove the dogs off. she was taken home for medical care and the wounds were described as serious.
The Maritime Exchange board passed resolutions denouncing unfair freight practices toward Philadelphia and formed a five member committee to visit Harrisburg to urge passage of a law ensuring equal treatment for all shippers and receivers of freight.

Elizabeth Barry aged 96 living near Fatmouth Kentucky barred doors and windows then set fire to her house and perished in the flames. The tragedy occurred February 17 as neighbors reported the blaze and authorities investigated the case as self inflicted.
