Special Dispatch reports Lewis Warner aged 43 an employee of the Bangor and Portland Road was on a moving train four miles from Bangor when the train parted. He stood with each foot on bumpers of different cars fell under the wheels and was killed instantly. He leaves a wife and five children at Middle Village. He was described as sober and industrious.

He asked authority to borrow 198 million pesetas as floating debt, noting potential needs if war or serious disturbances arise. Shooting Incident in Wilkes-Barre Pa The boy injured is ten years old after a revolver discharged while a cartridge was being removed. The bullet entered his cheek and lodged in the neck. doctors say the wound is not life threatening.

At Los Pinos Agency Col Feb 15 Jack brought three of the twelve prisoners demanded by the government Chief Douglass Tim Johnson and Thomas to Washington. Leverick returned with no prisoners and General Adams said the remaining nine would take at least three weeks to capture due to snow and dispersed camps. Johnson cited illness and a sick tent for not accompanying them.
Rome February 17 The Latin text of the Papal Encyclical in Observatore Romano argues for removal of the rite of marriage from civil authority and traces marriage from patriarchal to Catholic times. It says Christ made marriage a sacrament to be administered by the Church and urges bishops to spread the teaching for the faithful in both worlds.
