The EB. W. Tunnell, a pilot boat from New York City, was damaged by heavy seas and towed toward Brooklyn. It arrived at Clinton Street yard at seven this morning and will undergo repairs at the builders' yard in Brooklyn.
A Melrose Avenue resident exposed a burglary attempt at his home on Reading Railroad Oak Lane. He hurled a boot jack in anger, smashing four mirrors valued at $260. The incident occurred yesterday morning as he found the intruder fleeing.
A man claiming to be labor leader Hugh O'Donnell visits Harrisburg's Adjutant General's Department. He recounts jail hardships and a $5000 betrayal plot to win clerks' sympathy. Officials verify the real O'Donnell, then at Homestead, was not present. The bogus visitor disappeared after failing to meet General Greenland and did not call again.
Coroner Ashbridge held an inquest into the deaths of Kate Lanahan and her husband Albert Lanahan who killed Kate and then shot himself. The couple resided at 4529 Merion avenue with two children. The woman, reportedly drinking, suffered extensive bruising. Police officer Albert Lanahan died from a self inflicted gunshot wound. The jury found Kate killed by her husband while he died from a bullet wound.
The Agricultural Building at the World’s Fair Grounds was slightly damaged by fire late today. A 100 foot glass section fell from the roof narrowly missing firemen. three carloads of exhibits were safe. A prior rubbish fire near the building was extinguished with no damage. Authorities suspect incendiary origins and note light guards, with only three men at the Agricultural Building.
Berlin February 7. A leading National Liberal at Chancellor von Caprivi's recent soiree says the Emperor's remarks on the Russian treaty were too strong for Berlin papers. He claimed without the treaty Germany would face war with Russia within three months and that Russia and the Czar supported the pact, making its rejection untenable.
New York February 7 The first of many cases charging fraudulent practices and ballot stuffing at the last state election ended at 11 20 tonight with a verdict of guilty. Peter F Neville an election inspector was surprised by the result and is now a felon with a mercy recommendation attached.
February 7 reports that a Federal grand jury convened in Cuicano to examine the case of Lieutenant Maney who fatally shot Captain Alfred Boomers at Fort 8 Dan in October last year. The proceeding seeks to determine the circumstances and motive behind the fatal shooting.

Pittsburg February 7. A pitched battle erupted at Brinton today between American and foreign laborers employed on excavations for the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company. About 300 Americans and an equal number of foreigners tested the matter of employment amid claims of discrimination in favor of the foreign element.
Joseph Harr awaiting trial for robbing the Mill Creek post office in Huntingdon county escaped in Harrisburg this morning and was captured soon after by local schoolboys. Hart and two companions faced a hearing before United States Commissioner Wolfe in the prison office. After the proceeding the robber walked out of the front door. The escape caused a general alarm fee and the trio remain held on a $1,000 bond for trial.
Detroit February 7. Charles H. Price alias John Porter alias Prentice Taylor, one of the nation’s most notorious crooks, was arrested today. He is wanted by Missouri authorities who posted a $500 reward for the train robbery near St. See six weeks ago. Price is also sought for other felonies in Jackson.

At noon today Director Windrim will open bids for paving at Hunting Park avenue and Venango street in the Twenty eighth ward. Vulcanus Paving Company and Pennsylvania Asphalt Company are bidders. Windrim has previously thrown out the latter's bids, but the firms insist on bidding on all contracts to secure a trial.
Frederick Mussel 21 of 818 Fairmount Avenue was hospitalized at the Pennsylvania Hospital with a bullet in his leg after a family quarrel. He was drunk, reportedly fired at his brother William, and the bullet entered the knee, traveled downward to the ankle, and was removed.
Aaron Tollifer and his wife were found dead this morning with buckshot and a pistol ball in her brain. The couple had recently reconciled after the wife left for Anthony Thomas, the former lover. Thomas is jailed on a murder charge.

Special telegram from Louisville reports a fatal confrontation in Harlem County where Dr. William Nolin shot William Turner and John Turner during a knife attack by Turner. Both Turners died. Nolin surrendered, wounded slightly, amid mounting feuds between the Turner and Nolin families dating from a prior shooting.
In Atlantic City Judge Williams presided over an assault case between fruit dealers Paul Gittone and William Kimmel. Lawyer Cole accused the judge of low intelligence after a ruling, and bail was set at 300 dollars for Kimmel. The two men, Italian and German, had clashed after a drinking invite. Both men, with injuries, faced charges of assault and battery in City Hall.
Governor O Ferrell orders Alexandria Light Infantry to Manassas to aid civil authorities in guarding two African American defendants scheduled for trial on rape charges. Prisoners Heflin and Elliott were arrested last week and moved from Manassas to Alexandria to avert lynching.
In Little Rock on February 7 a Black assailant robbed Martin L. Kumpe, a country store operator ten miles from the city, fatally wounding him. The suspect, unnamed, is pursued by an A J case and faces deadly mob violence if captured.
W C Evans a telegraph clerk at a Pennsylvania station was arrested here about a week ago on a charge of betraying Miss Martha Cris of Pittsburgh. The grounds for refusal appear to be defective papers.
Fred Gerdin was convicted for attempting to rob a Knoxville and Ohio express train and sentenced to two years. His accomplice Will Smith was killed by officers during the incident. officers were aboard the train at the time.
George Kilgalien was struck by a trolley at Twenty-eighth and Jackson streets and taken to a hospital with injuries to the face legs and body. He is identified as a resident of the area and the incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
Washington reports George C. Jones chairman of the National Greenback's national committee has issued a call for a Greenbackers meeting on March 4.
A young woman, Miss Julie Finney of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, was accidentally shot at a party near the town. New York detectives opened an inquiry into the theft of $12,000 worth of diamonds owned by Miss Lavinia Niblo of Baltimore. She left a ball at Madison Square Garden with a diamond necklace and bracelets in a satchel, then found the satchel missing after the carriage returned to fetch a card case. A $5,000 reward was offered, and the case mirrors a prior loss two years ago aboard the steamship Umbria.
In Steubenville on February 7, Humphrey Glass Works rehired 100 workers, Riverside Furnace 200, Sanitary Ware Pottery Tiltonville 60, with a larger stretch expected Monday. Tiltonville potter wages unchanged while Riverside Iron Works wages cut 25 percent from last year. Belmont Mill wall factory in Wheeling resumed after six months idle with 150 men, total 250 at the mill, and the blast furnace to resume soon adding about 75 more.
W. R. Canon, traveling salesman for Fox Lutz Webster of New York, was killed when he fell from a Lebieh Valley train near Johnston Steel Works at Lower Catasauqua Station. Papers on his body identified him as a New York City resident and a leading Mason. Coroner Yoat will hold an inquest at 2 this afternoon.
New York reports the German steamer Rhaetia arriving from Hamburg with gales and high seas. Captain Ladwig says he saw a lead-colored steamer ashore ten miles east of Fire Island, possibly a Hamburg oil tank vessel, though Fire Island buoy data shows no sighting or heard-of vessel in that area.

Des Moines February 7 Senator Perrin introduced a joint resolution congratulating Hawaii on its first anniversary of independence and directing the message be forwarded to the President by Governor Jackson.
Norristown February 7 Mary Zavilie hurled four kettles of scalding water at Andrea Bronzedher in a jealous rage. His sight is gone and he may face severe injuries and charges as authorities investigate the brutal assault.
