Foreign telephone companies would pay two percent of gross receipts in the state, pipeline firms one percent, electric light firms one half percent, passenger car lines two percent, fertilizer concerns one half percent.
Joseph F. Witmer a prominent Paradise citizen died today of pneumonia. He was son of Hiram Witmer and long operated large stone quarries near Sea man Place. He supplied stone for the Pennsylvania Railroad and held a major Philadelphia bridge contract at his death.
The contract to construct the Kansas City Louisiana and Gulf Railroad was awarded in Atchison Kansas to an English syndicate. The line will reach Red River by January 1891 and Vermilion Bay by January 1892, using 6 pound steel rails and top quality materials and workmanship.

John L Sullivan boxed three three minute rounds with Joe Lannon before a large Newark audience at the Academy of Music.
