Elmer Shepherd and his mother Louisa are jailed on a charge of attempt to kill after Maggie Clark, 16, was found in a bedroom in a house at 310 North Eleventh Street. Cleveland February 6 announcement declares Mary Corning, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Warren Corning, engaged to Judge Charles Y Audenried of Philadelphia. The Corning family is wealthy and prominent in Cleveland society. wedding set for April.
The Court of Errors and Appeals upholds receivers’ recognition of $300,000 in claims by Phoenix National Bank Garfield National Bank National Park National Broadway Bank and Chemical National Bank against the Domestic Sewing Machine Company and the Domestic Manufacturing Company. The claims arose from notes endorsed by the companies’ treasurer, whom plaintiffs argued lacked authority. The court confirms the banks’ claims as valid.
Telegram from Williamsport reports Walter E. Goodwin the wife murderer will be hanged in Wellsboro on March 31. Only about thirty witnesses will be allowed as the execution is planned in the jail corridor with a movable landing scaffold on the stairs to create a ten-foot drop.

Annie Lewis an 18 year old girl was found in a drugged state in Cherry alley after leaving a saloon with companions. A bystander discovered her and two men fled. Dr. Capp confirmed poisoning and the girl’s statement indicates she was drugged while drinking beer with acquaintances before being moved to the alley.
A 15-year-oldboy, Harry Schoch, died while coasting down College Hill in Lewisburg yesterday afternoon. He rode with companions and, near the hill’s bottom, the sled left the path and struck a stone, tearing a ten inch hole in his abdomen.
The Portuguese steamer Oeventm arrived in New York February 6 bringing nine crew members from the American bark Sered wrecked December 31 at Leixoes near Oporto in a NW gale. The Sered, built 1867 in Baltimore, sailed November 18 from Philadelphia with a full cargo of case oil. owners in New York. Captain Dallings stayed with the vessel to protect owners' interests. The bark, 523 tons, was wrecked on rocks after dragging anchors. crew saved only the clothes they wore.
Isaac Greenwald a prominent Waynesboro citizen and owner of a fast trotter fled an overturned buggy on Main street after his horse shied. He was thrown to the ground with severe bruises but is not seriously hurt according to local report.
In Mercer county near Sandy Lake a frightful runaway sleighing accident last night left Mrs. Frank Osborn with a fractured skull and serious internal injuries. Her daughter was severely hurt as the horse bolted and plunged over a steep embankment.

Alexander Humes of Dents Run was killed during a log drive at Johnson's Run yesterday afternoon. While rolling logs down a hillside he slipped and a second log struck his head, fracturing his skull and causing instant death.
