Mrs. C. F. Nutt, mother of James Nutt who shot Mrs. Payton and a companion in Kansas, has lived in Meadville for two years. Her family includes daughters Jennie and Nellie and sons William and Walter, with John a jeweler in Akron and Mrs. Krepps in Marshalltown. James, 33, married with a daughter, had been living on his mother’s Kansas farm after trial.
