About five hundred Knights attended a banquet and toasts lauding Masson’s quarter century of Masonic service as Dr Bechtel’s painting was revealed under calcium light. Guests included Eminent Commander W. Harry Stirling and Pennsylvania leaders. New Jersey visitors also joined the event marking the commandery’s seventieth year of existence.

Death by own action of a boy clerk at water works store
Jonathan Waterall eight year old clerk at William Waterall & Co paint store on Fourth and Race streets committed suicide by chloral. A note stated he chose death to avoid bringing discredit on relatives after failing to quit drink. Three bottles were found. he died at Germantown Hospital after family member witnessed him take the drug.

Chronic Complainer in Court Over Assault Charge
Magistrate Smith told Michael Gillespie of Beach and Laurel streets that he is a chronic complainer after Gillespie had William Wallace of 18 Laurel street arrested for assault. Gillespie said he struck Wallace after insult to his mother. The prisoner was discharged from custody.
