He discussed Kentucky Senate prospects noting St John Boyle as a likely Republican nominee and Yerkes with many friends. He said Governor Bradley might appoint a successor to Senator Blackburn, though he knew Bradley's position.
New York reports a man named Frank Julio returned to his former home on Columbus Avenue seeking permission to reenter. After an altercation he fired killing his landlady Mrs. Mary Kelly and was then hospitalized with severe injuries.
In Greensburg Pennsylvania Edward Griffin and Alex Medlock two Black workers at the Rodebaugh tunnel quarreled over a game of era and both fired revolvers. Griffin was shot and badly wounded before fleeing the scene. Police searched for him while medlock was taken into custody.
A Detroit diocese report states Monsignor Martinelli sent copies of a papal decision to Bishop Foley and Rev. Christian Deniesen. Deniesen claimed a point in a church dispute, while the article notes the Cardinal and church officials in Washington and Detroit.

John Gaus, tried since Monday for the murder of his father at Archbald over two years ago, was convicted of manslaughter in Scranton. He had been in hiding in the Schuylkill coal regions until a fellow countryman, aware of the crime, informed on him. The Commonwealth urged a first degree verdict.
The Parsons family home in Bancro, Pa. was completely burned this morning. The family woke to the infant crying and coughing from smoke in the bedroom and escaped with their lives.

Nicholas Schaffer shot his second wife Anna Boulton outside Budd's shoe factory in Burlington New Jersey after a three month separation. He then killed himself with two shots to the head as his wife lay gravely wounded. She reportedly survived the initial shot to the mouth but the stomach wound proved fatal. Schaffer, about 40, had two children from a previous marriage and was well known in the community. Associates say he had shown strange behavior and blamed family troubles for an alleged loss of mind prior to the act.
In Norristown on February 5 a warrant was issued for Walter Clinch, McCue's alleged assailant, one month after the violent death of hospital patient William McCue. Dr. Richardson reported the incident to Justice of the Peace Egbert, and Clinch was later dismissed along with two colleagues for statements during the investigation.
