An infant ten days old died in convulsions here after a mother drank whisky at a friend's urging. The physician linked the death to poisoning from the mother's exposure to alcohol.
The Board of Pardons rejected a request to commute the death penalty of Dr. L. N. Beach. Beach, condemned for murdering his wife, will be executed at Hollidaysburg on February 12.

James Burke a 35 year old oyster dredger was shot and killed in Canton. Louis Dempsey fled the scene and was arrested for murder after witnesses placed them both on the same vessel near midnight. A captain’s tip with an empty barrel was found. Burke was born in New York and the inquest jury selected. State Printer-elect Meyers protest against binding contract overruled in Harrisburg.
Special Dispatch to The Tres reports Samuel Kieffer was fatally mangled at a circular saw mill near West Milton while working at the saw. He died shortly after the injury.
Marsh Raney of Beallsville was thrown from a horse last evening in Washington Pennsylvania and died this morning from injuries.
Geo H. Brown, charged with killing Elliot at Blossburg in December, was acquitted by the jury this morning. The verdict caused great surprise and relief in Wedsworo and surrounding communities.
