Commander Donald Campbell of the British steamer Camperdown died in St Agnes Hospital from pneumonia complicated by Brights disease. He was about 65, a Scot, beloved by crew and shipping men in the city. The Camperdown, under Captain John Smith, sailed to Havana with coal.
