Harrisburg January 31 Attorney General McCormick announced he would not be a candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor or for any other office He said it was his duty to make the statement amid supporter interest and to reassure friends urging his canvass He noted he had urged friends to refrain from endorsing his candidacy at a Philadelphia Bourse meeting Wednesday hosted by the Business Men's League This public remark is his only statement on the matter.
Senator James K. Jones says there is no truth in reports that he removed William F. Harrity from the Democratic national committee. He explains that removal or vacancy power rests with the national committee and that papers from Pennsylvania would be shared with Harrity for reply before any action.

Former representative Levi Marsh of York filed suit in equity to stop the Treasury from paying $77,000 to William S. Grant for money due since 1861. Kate E. Le Noir a young woman with high Washington connections died by asphyxiation at the Sturtevant House in New York after a gas fix ture device was found by her side. She lived three years at a theatrical boarding house run by Mrs. M J Mc Cleery and had few visitors besides a vaudeville actress named Elsie Riner. An envelope addressed to Miss Kate Le Noir and a letter from a nephew named Eddie were found in the room. She previously resided with her mother and sister at 1220 Sixth Street NW Washington.
A wage reduction of about ten percent took effect at several New England mills including Atlantic and Pacific in Lawrence Tremont and Suffolk in Lowell Willimantic Forestdale and Chicopee Manufact uring in Chicopee. About 8 000 workers are affected bringing total affected to roughly 135 000 across New England.

Charles Holt his wife and 6 year old son survive a 150 foot fall from a sleigh on the Waterville Narrows. Mrs Holt is unconscious with both arms broken and internal injuries likely fatal. Mr Holt and the boy escape with minor injuries. Horses killed and sleigh demolished. Nearby Jer sey Shire residents Oliver Poust Arthur Walt Miss Minute Schaffer and Miss Alice Irvin also fall 25 feet but escape serious harm.
In Shamokin date January 31 ex Associate Judge C G Murphy and his daughter Miss Margaret Murphy were riding from Centralia to Mount Carmel when their horse ran on seeing a snow plough on the Sha mokin Mount Carmel Electric Railway. Murphy fractured skull and died at 6 pm. He was a prominent Centralia businessman aligned with the Democratic party.
Forecasters warn Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey will see fair to today and tomorrow with a cold wave and 15 to 20 degree drops. Northerly winds shift to northwesterly. Delaware and Maryland expect similar fair to today and Wednesday with 15 to 20 degree fall and northwesterly gales.
