Sproull suffered a fractured skull and multiple injuries and is not expected to survive while McGuigan has a broken wrist and several cuts. They were found by passersby and railroad men and taken to Union Depot then to a hospital.
William Rankin a noted minstrel died yesterday at his mother’s home 4102 Ogden street after long illness cancer of the stomach. The Rankin brothers Carl Will and Kit long associated with leading troupes all three were sons of Judge Rankin of Columbus Ohio. Funeral at his mother’s home Monday then interment in Columbus with Will and Carl previously with Thatcher Primrose and West and Hooley Quillan. Carl with Barlow and Wilson’s Minstrels.

Colonel J. G. Ramsey commandant of Fort McHenry was arrested after allegedly striking conductor Charles F. Plummer on a streetcar near Calvert and Baltimore. Ramsey fell into mud and was later released by the Criminal Court. spectators mistook him for the President.
In Scranton on January 31 Judge Hand expressed strong indignation at a jury verdict of not guilty in a liquor case. Evidence showed the defendant sold whiskey without a license with no defense presented. The judge reprimanded the jurors and discharged them from further attendance.
Grand Forks reports that a hired man, George Miller, murdered the wife of Rev. C N Snell and their eleven year old son six miles from Inkater while the preacher held a meeting at Mayville. The bodies were found Monday morning by neighbors. Miller took a team to the Northwestern Hotel, then boarded a train to Winnipeg. He is described as a young man formerly from Sioux City Iowa.
The Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Company cut daily hours for about one hundred foundry workers from ten to eight and for around four hundred car shop workers from ten to nine. The move aligns with the company policy to retrench amid ample repair work but limited new projects.

Barrimors Md January 31 It is stated authoritatively that the oyster shuckers of this city have raised $1 200 for the striking shuckers at Annapolis There are upward of 450 shuckers at Annapolis who have struck and the amount collected will not keep half that number for a week A collapse of the strike is looked for at an early day.
William Long of 1715 Leith Street and Robert Taylor of 1427 Howard Street were arrested and held for trial yesterday on charges of assault and battery against Charles Spielber, a cripple, while Spielber’s wife continued to work in a mill where the prisoners were employed.
The Catholic Ball under the hilopatrian Literary Institute will be held Monday evening at the Academy of Music. Robert Tage leads supper and wine rooms. sale details are unclear but preparations are underway for a flattering event.
