The Times correspondent reports Hobson, former manager of the Anglo American Bank, is alleged to have embezzled about £12,000 while in charge. Hunter, the bank's new president, states Hobson resigned in May and was later arrested. Hobson sues for slander as the case progresses toward possible November action.

Fayette Berggner editor and proprietor of a Fulton New York newspaper was arrested in Brooklyn on a Fulton warrant for abandonment. He is in custody of Fulton police and to be returned. his wife Sarah J Berggner had accused him while his partner Mary McCurdy aided elopement.
Joseph F. Elliot of Shire Oaks sues Dr. Frank McGrew of Finleyville in Washington County Court for 10000 damages claiming a teaspoonful of carbolic acid was administered to Mrs. Elliot during an April illness. Coroner's jury previously exonerated the doctor from criminal negligence.

Leonard Golz aged 18 of 2339 Fairmount Avenue fought with Charles Grooveman in their shared home. Golz struck with a hatchet on Grooveman’s scalp, both men were taken to Ninth District station, Grooveman sent home at his request and Golz remained in custody.
A stranger arrived at Medico Chirurgical Hospital from Broad Street Station with paralysis. A Pennsylvania Railroad pass from Downingtown to York was found in his pocket, made out to the Rev. James Mc Dougal of York.

A Denver bound Knights Templar train from Pennsylvania and New Jersey derailed after a sleeper fault near Clinton Iowa. Fifteen injured include Reuben Bresell of Hazleton with serious internal injuries and a head wound. Mrs. Rhoades of South Bethlehem treated and expected to travel tomorrow. No fatalities. Four doctors aboard provided care. The wreck occurred two and a half miles west of Clinton.
The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy fast train, late to depart Peoria, derailed three miles from the depot. Engineer George Bone of Galesburg died after being trapped by the lever. fireman John Maxwell, also of Galesburg, saved the train but suffered severe injuries. Passengers were shaken but unhurt. A spike mishap is suspected.
Loon Lake New York August 13. AP correspondent asked Lt Parker about a report President Harrison would take the stump in the Northwest. He says the president has no such plan and is working on his letter of acceptance, which will be ready in a day or so.
Katie Smink aged 2 living near Exeter Station was walking on the Reading Railroad tracks after missing her train. She narrowly escaped death when struck by a coal train, hurled sixty feet into the road, suffering a broken arm and leg but expected to recover.
Rep John G Warwick of Massillon Ohio lies dangerously ill at the Riggs House Washington after a weeklong bout with dysentery. He has a history of stomach ailments and is now in weakened condition following treatment. Warwick succeeded William McKinley in Ohio's Sixteenth district.
Albert Pfluger and Leopold Feldman, both 18 months old, were struck by streetcars at Third and Pine and Delaware avenue and Vine. Mary Ann Pechin a 33 year old resident of 2817 Girard Avenue reportedly attempted to cut her throat with broken glass in a yard closet during a period of temporary insanity. She was found weak from blood loss and hospitalized by Dr Henry Mindell at 2802 Girard Avenue in critical condition. Neighbors say she has exhibited signs of a feeble mind for some time.
Representatives of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers are in Scranton to confer with Grand Master Halstead about differences between the Delaware Lackawanna and Western Railroad and its telegraphers. Buffalo Division Chief I B MacMahon declined to comment when approached by reporters.
Dr Charles H Hepburn a Carlisle leader died suddenly at his East Main Street office at age 55 from heart disease. He led the Carlisle School Board and helped found the Carlisle Indian School and was the son of former Judge Samuel Hepburn.
