Petersburg troller H Hoff found dead aboard Snipe
H Hoff troller and fisherman owner of the gas boat Snipe was found dead in the cabin of his vessel on the Duncan Canal rocks. A coroner's jury ruled death from natural causes after inspecting the scene and boat conditions. Hoff had arrived from North Dakota last spring with his brother and purchased the Snipe.

Old Time Settler Julius Anderson Dies in Petersburg
Julius Anderson, an early Petersburg settler and builder of the town’s second building, died at Petersburg Hospital Saturday night from old age. Funeral services were held at S. of N. Hall Wednesday with R. L. Clifton officiating. Interment followed in Petersburg cemetery.

Death of Alaska Prospector John Johnson Reported
John Johnson aged 80, longtime Alaskan prospector and Petersburg resident for 15 years, died of heart failure on a Windham Bay trail while seeking lost claims. He was with John McCloskey and C. L Gove of Juneau. He rested on Silkvia Creek and never woke. His body was brought to Juneau on the Pheasant after a three and a half mile trek. He leaves a son and daughter in Oregon.
