The notice lists mailing terms and advertising rates for Petersburg Alaska. It references a bill known as the pass law permitting the deportation of aliens convicted of crime and notes the date of second class mail status and pricing details.
Mr and Mrs C F Smith fox farmers near Pybus Bay own two islands where their stock roams. They travel by 40 foot boat San Juan and plan a fourth Seattle to Alaska trip this fall. Smith started with ten fox pairs in 1919 and now has about 300 animals on two leased islands. They expect to sell 75 to 100 skins this fall.
The Valdez district grand jury urged creating a third Assistant U S Attorney in the 3rd Division with Cordova office. It also asked for a U S vessel stationed permanently on Prince William Sound to protect farmers and aid law enforcement. Another recommendation followed.
Notice appoints School Tax Collector for Peters burg Alaska under 1919 law amendments. All males aged 21 to 50 owe five dollars unless exempt as sailors in the US Army or Revenue Cutter Service, volunteer firemen, paupers or insane. Tax due by April 1 1922 and delinquent after May 1 1922. those arriving after April 1 owe delinquency 30 days after arrival or 10 days after notice.
The Grand Trunk, operated by Canadian National Railways, will begin daily passenger trains between Prince Rupert and the East starting June 4. Trains leave Prince Rupert nightly at 6:45 except Sundays and 7:45 except Tuesdays for connections at Edmonton with Vancouver Eastbound service.
The act requires employers to furnish a list of employees and to deduct or collect the tax from wages. Fines and imprisonment are provided for failure to pay the tax or furnish the list. Dated at Petersburg April 1 1922.
