Winslow Track Team Tops Sectional Meet at Bloomington

Winslow won the sectional state track meet at Bloomington with 34 points, followed by Washington 29 and Bloomington 20. Heardsly led with 16 points, taking two firsts in low and high hurdles and placing in the 400 yard dash and broad jump. Engleman won the half mile, tying for first in the mile with Bedford.

Obituary: William Riesenbeck Dies in Oklahoma Tuberculosis

William Riesenbeck aged 19 died in Oklahoma Saturday night after a long illness of tuberculosis. His body was brought to Velpen and funeral services were held at Cap Creek church. He was the son of Henry Riesenbeck and last November he and his father sold their personal property and moved west for his health. He was esteemed by all who knew him and his death caused widespread regret in his old community.

Leg Amputation for Petersburg Man in Indiana Hospital

Jentice Moore once of Petersburg and now on the Dety farm in Da county suffered rheumatism that led to a large sore and near limb malignancy. Surgeons amputated the leg near the hip last Sunday at Methodist Hospital in Indiana poli. recovery chances are reported good as he remains hospitalized and friends extend sympathy.

Arrested and Taken to Princeton on Bench Warrant

Nolan Bensinger of Winslow was arrested on a bench warrant by Deputy Sheriff James Hardison last Friday evening and taken to Princeton charged with larceny under false pretense. Friends say he has a good reputation and expect he will be cleared. Sverett Meyers, formerly of Winslow, is visiting from Colorado and plans to return after visiting Pike friends and relatives. Will Crecelius, Wes Spillman, Ed Kenis and local farmers discussed the Patoka River straightening matter. Mrs. Susie Martin, visiting her son in St. Louis, has returned home.

Mrs Lee Dorsey Seeks Divorce After Long Separation

Mrs Maggie Dorsey filed suit for divorce from Lee Dorsey alleging cruel and inhuman treatment since their 1890 marriage. She cites abuse before their six children, seeks custody of two minors, education and maintenance support, and alimony. The couple reportedly amassed about $20,000 in real and personal property. Vandals Hit Main Street Damaging Lights and Pole

Last Thursday night vandals struck Indiana Water and Power Co. lights on Main Street with a brick. A Buress barber pole was set up in front of the Court House yard. A new plow owned by John Gladish was broken and a buggy wheel disappeared from an Alford farmer's property.

Saturday Night High Jinks on Main Street

Saturday night from 11 to 2 o clock residents on Main street endured a loud serenade by partygoers with shot guns and noise makers. Several revelers obtained immunity and the uproar ended around two in the morning. No damage occurred though sleep was disrupted and two minor fights were reported with no injuries.

State Tax Board official aids county assessors in valuations

T P Tillman of Boonville met with township assessors early this week to help prepare real and personal property returns for the Board of Equalization which starts Monday. Officials expect wide discrepancies in real estate values and foresee a higher county valuation, possibly nearly double prior totals, as intangibles visibility under the law grows.
