Fifty-Five Call for May 4 Pike County Troop Sendoff

Fifty five selectives left Winslow for Camp Taylor Kentucky on Monday morning. Captains Lester Barrett and Harry Berridge led the Peters burg group in high spirits. Local crowds hosted a dinner at the Chandler hotel and a church service before the train. A fund of 102 dollars plus 19 from the WX. of P. Lodge supported the voyage.

Two School Houses Planned for Jefferson Township

Trustee George H. Thomas advertises for bids to build two school houses in Jefferson township Otwell will be brick and cost about twenty thousand dollars and will be a model up to date structure The Black School site will be a frame building of standard size The final decision ends a long running controversy in Jefferson township.

Mr. Luhring, a Gibson county native and Evansville attorney for 18 years, has been a Republican stalwart. He served Vanderburgh County Prosecuting Attorney from 1908 to 1912 and one term in the Legislature representing Knox, Gibson and Vanderburgh counties in 1903.
