Grave of Warner C. Johnson Found in Argonne Cemetery

Lieut. Walker France locates the grave of Warner C. Johnson killed in action October 15 1918 in France. The grave lies in Argonne cemetery at Romagne Sous Montfaucon Meuse. Mrs Mattie Kirk Dies After Prolonged Illness At 69

Mrs Mattie Kirk died at her home Tuesday night after a several week illness. She was 69 years old and a member of the Regular Baptist church. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at ten, Elder T J Fleener officiating, with interment in Montgomery Cemetery. Surviving are two sons Will and Homer Kirk of Vincennes, a daughter Mrs Robert Engler of Oatsville, and a granddaughter living with the family. Oakland City Journal notes Day's Jewelry Store offer.

Lafayette Corn of Augusta Dies at 59

Lafayette Corn died Friday at his Augusta home after several days illness. A 59 year old man with one daughter Evaline Cox of Oklahoma, his wife having died years earlier. His brother resided with him since. Funeral service held Sunday conducted by Rev. B. Barrett. Burial followed at God Fellows Cemetery, Winston Dispatch.

Fire narrowly prevented at doctor’s home

A fire at Dr. Walter Wilson’s residence Sunday was contained after coal from the grate rolled on the floor. A rug was burned with a hole burned in the floor before Mrs Wilson discovered and extinguished the blaze.
