Eleven killed and eight injured when a Southern passenger train struck a truck carrying a Woodman Circle picnic party near Huntingburg Indiana. Names ages and relations are listed. many children among the injured and dead. A relief train and doctors tended the victims en route to Evansville and Huntingburg.

Postmaster C. N. Henke resigns and the resignation is accepted. Hugo L. Hartke is appointed to the vacancy, accepts the commission, and begins duties. Hartke, former Lockhart township trustee, is described as well qualified and both men are Democrats.

Railroad man killed near Atlas mines in Evansville

J C Farrabee aged 65 a well known brakeman on the local railroad was crushed to death Saturday morning near the Atlas mines. He died after being caught beneath a coal car as a string of loaded cars moved. Coroner Kinman conducted an inquest and the body was sent to Evansville for funeral services at 3 PM Monday from 708 Division Street. Survived by wife Lena Morlock married last April a C and E L station matron, son Arthur a freight conductor and sister Mrs Laura Rayhill of Washington Indiana.

Mrs J E Adams Dies At Home Near Algiers

Mrs J E Adams aged 55 died at her home near Algiers on June 30. Funeral held July 1 with Rev R O Pearson officiating and interment at McClure cemetery. She was a daughter of the late Edwin Lee and widow of J E Adams, mother of Jerome Roy and Dewey, and sister to Miss Dora Edwards and Mrs Emma Colvin. The community mourns her Christian life and enduring kindness.

Mrs Louisa McNeely Dies at 92 in County

Pioneer county woman Louisa McNeely died at her sister’s home near Winslow on Monday at age ninety two. She left eight children including Mrs Will Tislow of near Alford. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Ridge church at two o’clock Wednesday afternoon with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs Jane Laswell Dies at 86 in Washington Indiana

Mrs Jane Laswell aged 86 died at the home of Henry Grubb in Washington Indiana after a long life in the county. She left no living children but was survived by grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services were held at Flat Creek church with Rev D B Moore officiating and burial in Flat Creek Cemetery.

Dwellings Destroyed by Fires in Monroe Township and Simtown

Last Tuesday a fire in Will Thompson's Monroe township home, likely from a defective flue, caused $8500 in damage with partial insurance. The Arthur Burdette residence near Simtown burned Monday with an estimated $32500 loss, origin undetermined and only partially insured.

Mower Tore Up When Team Flees on Clay Lemmon Farm

Monday morning Tom Masters drove a team to a mower cutting clover for Sherman Patterson on the Clay Lemmon farm. The horses bolted, the mower wrecked, heads under the neck-yoke and both animals tangled but unharmed. The machine was almost total loss.

A county man fed a single hog with corn and milk, tracking weight and costs. The pig gained 47 pounds in 34 days, consuming 82 pounds of corn and 68 gallons of milk, totaling $9.33 in feed.
