Mrs J W Coleman Dies After Long Illness At Petersburg
Cynthia Corn Coleman wife of Dr J W Coleman of Petersburg died at the family home on Walnut Street Sunday afternoon after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Methodist church Tuesday at 10:30 conducted by Rev John Ward and Rev Golden A Smith with interment at Walnut Hills cemetery. Born September 1 1853 in Lockhart township she was 66 years 3 months 13 days. She married Dr J W Coleman in October 1869 and they had five children, three surviving: Thad R of Trenton NJ Bret of Vincennes, Mrs W D Hoolihan of Sanford FL, and husband. Dr and Mrs Coleman moved to Petersburg from Union and were active in church and local improvements. She was known for charitable work, generosity, and kindness to the needy. Big fire in the oil field destroys barrels and tanks
A Sunday morning blaze on the William H. Gladish farm in Pike County consumed about 750 barrels of oil and nine tanks. The fire started while a gas pipe was being thawed and spread across western oil fields. Loss estimated at five to ten thousand dollars with property owned by Ohio people. The fire was eventually controlled with no injuries reported.
