Labor Day Celebration in Pike County at Petersburg Fairgrounds
The largest Labor Day event in Pike County in years will be held at Petersburg fair grounds on Monday September 2. Citizens from neighboring counties may attend as events run from morning to the grand ball game in the afternoon. The day features horse racing greased pole greased pig wrestling a novelty race drills and a ball game with Atlas No 1 against a visiting team. Proceeds go to the county mess fund with oversight by the fund and labor groups.

Boy Driver Causes Head-On With Station Wagon Car

Owen Bottom Dead at 19 After Appendicitis
Owen Bottom eldest son of former county commissioner James B Bottom and wife of Patoka township died at St Marys Hospital Evansville at 3 pm Wednesday from appendicitis. He was operated on August 14 but failed to gain relief. He was 19 years old. Funeral arrangements had not been made when this paper went to press.

Dwelling Burned in Patoka Township Fire
The Stocker home in southern Patoka Township was destroyed by a noon Sunday blaze caused by a gasoline stove explosion. Mrs Stocker fainted but was unharmed. Mr Stocker saved a feather bed and assisted his wife before flames consumed the house.
