Coal Strike Ends After Conference Agreement
The long coal strike ending April 1 has concluded after a conference of Mine Workers officials and operators controlling about sixty million tons per year. The pact keeps the existing wage scale and hours, reestablishes the check-off, and runs to March 31, 1923. Aims include preventing future strikes and ensuring many mines resume operations promptly, with a Cleveland conference outlining wage scale negotiations and a committee of inquiry to study industry conditions.
