Drowning of Ottis Scraper at Holmans Ferry
Ottis L Scraper aged 25 drowned Friday evening in the White River about one hundred yards below Holmans Ferry after entering the water with friends. Rufus Morgan located the body after eleven o clock that night. Scraper, a Petersburg resident and trusted mechanic with Charles H Carlisle, vanished while attempting to assist a friend near a sand bar. Funeral held Sunday at Main Street Presbyterian Church with Rev James Claude McClung officiating.

About two hundred automobiles surrounded the church and more than a hundred cars formed the procession for the largest funeral known in town. Barn Fire Destroys Bradfield Heirs Property at Algiers
A barn and contents belonging to the Bradfield heirs burned Saturday around four o clock at Algiers. A poultry house behind the Cox restaurant also burned. A roof ember ignited the restaurant but was put out by a bucket brigade. The village faced a major blaze scare, with insurance insufficient to cover the loss from hay stored there. The fire origin remains unknown.

Moonshine Still Hidden in Secret Cave Found Near Chew Pond

Mrs Octavia A Radcliff wife of Beverly Radcliff of Algiers died at her home in Algiers last Friday morning after a long illness of heart disease and age. She was 79 years 2 months 12 days and born near Rockport Spencer county. She was united in marriage May 4 1887 and raised Beverly Radcliff’s six motherless children as her own. She joined the Methodist Episcopal church as a child and was noted for charity and gentleness. The funeral was conducted by Rev Golden A Smitt and Rev Rumbley at the M E church in Algiers with burial in Walnut Hills cemetery Petersburg.
