Colored Delegates Elect Loyalist Officers At Raleigh Convention
A mixed group of white and colored delegates met to organize a Republican rally in Raleigh. Officers named include A. M. Jones of Henderson County as President, J. R. Goode of Craven as Vice President, and J. H. Harris of Wake as Vice President, with J. Jones and James H. Harris presiding at sessions. The gathering debated reconstruction, loyalty, and taxation and concluded with an executive committee to oversee state-wide committees. The tone praised colored delegates while noting tensions with white members.
