Valediction and Tomb of Gen Lee At Lexington Chapel
The Daily Index reports visitors viewed the sarcophagus of Gen Lee in the Lexington chapel basement and praised the marble medal likeness. The U niversity library move places the tomb in a planned memorial room with a bronze bust donated by a New York citizen and a large wall portrait of Gen Lee and Stonewall Jackson. The tomb remains decorated by Lexington citizens and students, and Rev A L B Earle preached thrice on Sunday amid notes on the Theological Seminary’s history from 1823 through moves and growth.
