Relics from the battleship Mississippi are returning to Mississippi from Norfolk Virginia. The silver service donated by the state will go to the Governor's Mansion in Jackson along with Mississippi related books from the ship's library. Candelabras head to Natchez for the American Revolution headquarters. A loving cup is sent to the National Society of Colonial Dames at Columbus.

WDAM Set To Tie Into Nation Wide Coaxial Cable
WDAM TV Channel 9 will join a nationwide coaxial television cable effective November 1 1956. D H Presley Southern Bell manager said work started in Hattiesburg to connect WDAM to the cable passing through the exchange building. A temporary run from the telephone building to the Forrest Hotel will extend several blocks. From the hotel roof signals will be microwave beamed to the East Butchie studio on Highway 11. A permanent tower on the telephone building roof will beam signals directly to WDAM, enabling live network programs. WDAM previously received networks via relay from WDSU New Orleans using a private microwave system with relays at Poplarville and Purvis. WDAM is the only TV station in South Mississippi and its signal here is clear.

Four Lanes Planned For Highway 51 Between Hernando And Senatobia
State Highway Commissioner Roy Adams announced the project to widen Highway 51 to four lanes from Hernando to Senatobia starting shortly after January 1. He said the four-lane plan will extend to the Tennessee border, reaching Hattiesville, Mississippi.
