A Monday evening gathering at the Peru Court House drew Miami county patriots from both parties. Jusein Feinmann presided and J B Seul wiler kept minutes as Miami citizens were invited to attend the Whig Convention planned for Logansport on the ninth of the current month. A ten-person committee was appointed to arrange the event.
The excerpt from General Jacksons inaugural address stresses reform of abuses that corrupt federal patronage and election freedom. The Richmond Enquirer notes the need to end traveling secretaries and wasted funds to reward electioneering allies.
