A disrupted building moves to Shirk's Brick at the corner of Broadway and Seenud streets. White wheat priced at 5 cents in the market.
A constable found a family living in a ten by ten foot cellar in Sillavan Place. Father and mother, an injured husband, a six year old girl, and a son in reform school. No provisions or furniture beyond a broken bed and worn clothing. The parents were sent to the House of Industry for six months, and the child to Deer Island, while the daughter was sent out to beg.
A camp meeting is planned about three miles above Peru between the canal and rire et, starting August 26. Attendees are asked not to bring any items for sale within two miles as required by law. A boarder agent will assist attendees lacking funds. The piece notes the first American china and glassware set made for the White House by order of the President, praised as exquisite and superior to foreign makers.
