Michael Stanton and Timothy Brendan return from several weeks in Atlanta to South Amboy New Jersey. They claim Georgia is defined by a gun culture and racial division. They describe widespread armed whites and segregation in public spaces, with blacks ostracised.
Messrs Charles B Pearce and N W Pearce attended the funeral of Mrs Israel Reid wife of Israel Reid of Long Branch cousin of Pearce. Reid was once a clerk at W C Perrine store and a blacksmith by trade. son Joseph N Reid of Cranbury died years ago. NEWS correspondent recalls work at his shop.
George Cheeseman Jr completed the interior work and trimming of his ice cream parlor with George Teeple, formerly of Perth Amboy and now on George Street, doing the finishing. The parlor is said to compare favorably with others in Perth or South Amboy, and Teeple earns praise for his finishing skill.
The Board of Education convened in borough hall Friday night for a lengthy meeting. An account of the proceedings will appear in Monday's issue.
Residents from South Amboy and surrounding areas visited Perth Amboy on Friday including Mrs. William Adams and Mrs. John Johnson. Several others from Sayreville and Second street joined, while Sidney Bloodgood fell ill with a congestive headache and was taken to Dr White.
Names of Newark visitors and town residents are listed as they traveled Friday. Several locals visit out of town while others plan church services, a travel booking tour, and road improvements nearby. A G A R post plans a church gathering Sunday evening.
At the annual Sewaren Land and Water Club meeting Andrew Hoyt of Holton avenue was elected commodore, then resigned, with Robert Clarkson of Cliff road becoming commodore and Fred Solace of Cliff road elected vice commodore. C A Cuppin of Cliff road heads the entertainment committee with T Gimbern at Cliff road and Byard Clarkson also on the board. Prospects for a successful season look promising as members show renewed interest.
Sewaren locals report the tennis club works on the court in preparation for the season with a rumor of a Decoration Day morning tournament open to members of both Sewaren Land and Water Club and Sewaren Tennis Club. Residents mention visits by Mrs. Hufeat of Dover Plains plus appearances by Mrs. EB Delafield Wright of New York City and others at local events. The King’s Daughters Society plans a musical tea at Miss M C Stoddart’s home on Cliff Road as the first in a series of entertainments hosted by members.
Metuchen notes mark the Quiet Hour Club’s final season meeting at Mrs. E H Spear’s home. A reception honored retiring president Mrs. James G Mason due to ill health. Honorary president Mrs. Hester M Poole presided as a quartet sang, Miss Demarest spoke on forestry and Palisades, and Mrs. Burr gave a piano solo. About 100 guests attended, with apple blossoms and dogwood decorating the dining room.
Metuchen residents report visitors from Trenton Clifton Springs Elizabeth and New Brunswick with gatherings at homes and informal evenings. A. A. ball team plays Plainfield at Robins field this afternoon. A strawberry festival at St. Luke's on June 4 supports the B I L.

Market notes show mixed freshness and firmness across flour, rye, heat, straw, bran, and butter. Prices list winter and summer contracts, with eggs and potatoes also quoted. poultry demand steady with held goods and varied fowl prices in Pennsylvania, New York, and nearby regions.
CATTLE supply light and market steady with prices for choice at 5.90 to 6.0 dollars and prime at 5.5 to 5.7 dollars. Veal calves quoted at 7.50 to 8.10 dollars. HOGS receipts light, market slow and lower with prime heavies and mediums around 6.65 dollars. Yorkers and similar grades listed, but text is garbled.
Mrs. George W. Moore hosted the Friday Afternoon Whist Club at her Lafayette Place home. Progressive whist with prizes featured. first prize went to Mrs. Charles M. Winant for half a dozen cups and saucers, second to Mrs. Benjamin Rothschild for a lunch cloth. Guests included Mrs. Charles A. Marshall and Miss Lyda Little. Next week’s gathering will be at Mrs. J. W. Henderson’s home in Perth Amboy.
Rev. W H Jackson preaches Jesus and Joseph a Comparison at Congregational Church Sunday morning. A union Memorial service with Presbyterian and M E churches follows in the evening with Rev W B Hamilton of Elizabeth preaching in the morning and the Grand Army joining the gathering.
Rev J B J Rhodes of St Mark's M E church will close a series on young women with a sermon titled The Young Woman as a Church Worker. Morning topic is The Cause and Cure of Spiritual Decline. Schedule includes 10:30 service, 2:30 Sunday school, 6:45 Epworth League led by Miss Emma Manee on Rescuing the World from Sin, and 7:45 evening service. Teachers Professional Circle held its season’s last meeting Friday afternoon in School No 1. Mrs Howard Tappan of Edgar’s Hill visits her mother Mrs Marcus Brown in Main street. Miss Deshler of New Brunswick was in town Friday. Mr Percy B Brown of New Brunswick spends Sunday at his East Woodbridge home. Fred Potter of Barron avenue is out after illness. The final meeting of the Mission Study Class at St Mark's MBE church was held in the church lecture room last night. Mrs. W. E. Trewin of Elizabeth gave the address. An informal program of vocal and instrumental music delighted attendees. A large group of church missionary society officers and members attended, followed by a social hour and refreshments provided by the committee.

The annual interscholastic track meet in Hamilton New York drew thirteen schools. Canton High School won with 29 points, Colgate Academy finished second, and Syracuse High School placed third.
In Philadelphia on May 25 the twenty four hour automobile race began at the Point Breeze track with nine cars driven by as many death defying chauffeurs.

The first Woodmen Circle grove in the borough will be formed at Feltushall Sta pleton on Friday June 7. Deputy William F Esterbrook and Counsellor Commander Charles Conley led the organizing effort. The Woodmen Circle, the auxiliary of Woodmen of the World, will begin with a full charter list and many Woodmen are expected to attend.

The Philatha Class of South Baptist held an entertaining musical gathering in the church lecture room with a large turnout. A well planned program featured vocal and instrumental solos by Annie Sullivan Sterling Winecapaw Horace Mason Edward Scales and Mrs W Parkinson Chase plus musical games. Refreshments were served by the music committee chaired by Edna Mason with EH Wightman Freda Gable and Hdyrina Knott assisting.

They toured company quarters around 4 pm aboard a touring car. Commissioner Lantry and Chief Croker aim to establish new companies by August first.
