The Board of Freeholders inspected the new Raritan River bridge this afternoon. They toured via steamboat to the site, noting the long pier like structure and the south side draw gap awaiting piling. Divers have leveled concrete preparing foundations for the mason work and the draw. Expected completion by October 1 at latest.
Knights of Columbus urged to wear purple ribbon on lapels for thirty days in mourning for Pope Leo XIII. San Salvador council lodge rooms on Smith Street draped in mourning under Warden Thomas F. Burke. In Perth Amboy a car float accident injures Thomas Banks when a plank gave way at the dock around 8 am. lip torn and sewn by Dr. Lund.
Building committee of the First Hebrew Mutual Aid Association held a Tuesday evening meeting at Mr. B Goldman’s Hall Avenue home. After the business session, attendees enjoyed a social hour and continued fellowship amid the community group.
A ten or eleven year old boy, unable to spell his name but claiming it sounds like Sereden, sought aid at 165 Water Street with Y. P. Therkelsen. He says he has no parents and was abandoned by an aunt and uncle in Hartford Street, wandering for days. Mrs. Therkelsen has taken him in while investigators seek confirmation of his story. police have no record or word from relatives.

Andrew Walling, seventy, of Piocoss Bay, clung to an overturned boat after a squall while clamming at Great Kills. Drifting about three miles, his numb fingers kept him afloat until rescuers dragged him aboard and returned him home. He remained unconscious and weak but alive after the perilous drift.
