Fruit Growers Institute lecture sheds light on orchard care

Canning Co Shareholders Approve New Plant Plan

A special meeting of Southern Okanagan Canning Co shareholders reviewed a report by Secretary J. S. Heales and unanimously approved building a larger canning plant with cement basement. The plant will produce at least ten thousand cans daily, with 50 percent of stock called and 30 new shares offered at $100 to current shareholders.

Rifle Association Review for 1908 Season Ends With Prize Shoot

The Rifle Association plans to finish its 1908 season at a late November shoot for the W. T. Shatford cup. The season saw 15 practice shoots and 2 matches with 83 ranges fired and 834 members attending. Five thousand and sixteen rounds were fired, 627 sighting shots, and total points 13 459 averaging 3.06 per shot. J. R. Mitchell led with 3.63 points per shot and won the Gov ernment prize, a nickel silver salver with the Dominion coat of arms.
