Bigler Township Supervisors oppose Act 1500 legislation
MADERA Last night the Bigler Township Board of Supervisors heard that the Moshannon Valley Council of Governments wrote to state officials opposing Act 1500. The bill would require non police municipalities to pay for state police coverage and withhold fines from local municipalities using state police. The board urged MVCOG members to send letters to area representatives and will draft a collective response. Also, Bigler will use Mason Law Office as solicitor, MVCOG similarly, after the death of George Test. The panel praised progress on the Madera B&B Park and noted a new volleyball court, swings, playground equipment, a horseshoe pit, and a rental pavilion. Waterline work to Tubbs Crossing should begin within two weeks, linking Beccaria Coalport Irvona Authority to Glen Hope and extending to Keagy Road and McCartney Road residents. Grannas Bros. won a $46 465.75 paving bid for three township roads. County Township Officials Convention set for Oct 16 at Brady Township Center. both supervisors plan to attend. Next meeting Oct 6 at 7 30 p.m.

Knox Township Supervisors Weigh Bridge Permits and Speed Limits
At the rescheduled meeting the Knox Township Supervisors discussed bridge inspection reports for Fruit Hill Bridge. Geotech Engineering works on DEP permits with work likely to start by early October. They also reviewed a speed limit study for Caldwell and Condon roads, but tabled it after installing Watch Children signs on Caldwell Road. A permit inquiry about building work was resolved as unnecessary, and residents were reminded permits are required for improvements. The tax software is for wage tax, not school tax. The next meeting is October 5 at 6 30 p m.
