Hobby Garden Club marks 50th flower show in Clearfield
The Hobby Garden Club of Clearfield celebrates its golden anniversary with a public show at Colonial Courtyard 1300 Leonard St. on Saturday 1 to 5 p.m. Chairpersons Jane Hollis and J Duane Test lead entries from amateur gardeners across multiple classes including holiday themes and a special Golden Anniversary display. Judging runs noon to end of registration. late entries are exhibited but not judged. Cash prizes and ribbons are offered in horticulture and arrangement categories with rules on all garden grown materials and no artificial components. Light refreshments provided.

Mahaffey Borough Council reported resignation of solicitor Theresa C. Momady of Pawlowski Homady and Long law firm Ebensburg. It invites letters of interest from Clearfield attorneys and provides contact numbers for Marcia Smith Mayor Bell and Sally Long. A Neighborhood Watch meeting is planned August 20 with state police presence. The Brown Day planning and Locust Street speed bumps were discussed with future spring installation cited. Regular meeting slated August 17 at 7 pm in the firehall.

Westover Bluegrass Festival Opens With Homecoming Weekend
Westover hosts a week of events at Mosser Memorial Park starting Thursday with bluegrass on the open stage at 7 p.m. A yard sale, crafts and flea market run through the week, while Friday features a pear spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. to aid the youth center and a Saturday pork roast dinner at 5 p.m. for the Mosser Park Development Committee. Knights of Columbus Stage Third Degree in DuBois
More than 40 Knights of Columbus were knighted at the third degree exemplification held at DuBois Central Catholic School on July 19. DuBois locals Paul Shade Matt Gabler Arnold Stutsman and Gale Garmony of New Bethlehem earned honors with officials from Erie Mercer Brookville and the DuBois No 519 host council. Dignitaries included Ray Barber Duane Smith Art Archre Ken Grugel George Beckes Jon Foulkrod William Baruffalo and other district deputies. The ceremony traces back to Father Michael J McGigney who founded the order in 1882.
