Seamstress helps Alice Cooper's flashy finale move along smoothly
Mary Ann Rafferty, mayor of Grampian by title, sewed a satin liner into Alice Cooper's leather pants for his concert finale. She was contacted by Debbie Gmerek and aided by staff at Clearfield County Career and Technology Center. Rafferty rushed the job, earned six show tickets and backstage passes, and met Cooper on his tour bus after the performance.

Clearfield centenarian recalls a century of town life
Harry Adolphus Smith of Clearfield recently marked 100 years, recalling a life rooted in the town. Born 1909 under Taft, he worked at C.C. Sandy and Sons grocery, survived the 1936 flood, witnessed the 1939 raft on the West Branch, and spent 26 years at The Progress as a pressman before retiring in 1976. His son Marven notes his father rode a bicycle to work and valued family memories and dancing with his children.
