Third Annual District Fair Opens With Splendid Pageant
The Third Annual District Fair opened this afternoon in Pendleton under ideal weather. Bells and whistles signaled opening at 3:20 before a large crowd. A parade along Main and Cort streets preceded a pavilion procession. Day one featured a busy program, county and merchant displays, and a strong showing by Milton and Pilot Rock livestock, with chickens praised as best yet.Department booths from Nissen Co, Taylor Hardware, Peoples Warehouse, Alexander, and Pendleton Auto drew crowds, plus booths by Byers Flour and irrigated-area exhibitors. The fair runs with Pioneer Day tomorrow and ongoing exhibits from schools, creameries, and local firms.

Confessed Grime Not To Ate Victim
In Bellingham Washington on September 28 JK Thomas surrendered to police after 24 hours of denial and then confessed to killing his wife. He described placing the body in an underground furnace in the Vanek yard and burning it, then burying remains under coal bed and earth.
