Salt Lake Sept. 25 Engineer Wilkes of this city engaged by the Great Central railroad to survey the Coos Bay to Salt Lake line will form a surveying party and begin field work at once. Preliminary lines will be run through this state and the route will extend south to Great Salt Lake requiring substantial trestle work over water.
Wilkesbarre Pa reports say rioting subsided this morning as armed troopers kept order. In Philadelphia the State Bankers Association opened its second day with prayers and speeches by James Eckels and A B Hepburn. Officers to be elected and next year’s convention site to be chosen after adjournment.

McKee later killed himself. A Burlington road passenger train rear ended a stock train near Maldon Tl early today. Four stockmen were killed: George Stewart Winchester Illinois A M Canthers Tate Grove Illinois A H Wagn er Prairie City Alabama W L Collins Avon Illinois. Five others were seriously injured including L B Wisey Knoxville and M Johnson Avon. The stock train was entering the siding when the collision occurred.
New York dispatches report that rumors about a man matching Billing’s description in the murder of Mrs. Pulitzer have been proven groundless. Prosecuting Attorney Jerome says Young will likely remain in Sing Sing’s death house within 80 days. Defense counsel plans an insanity plea.
Three men were killed and one man fatally injured in a freight collision on the Bessemer and Lake Erie line near Paridee, outside Greenville, Pa. The accident occurred at noon today on September 25.

Commander McLean of the Cincinnati cables that on Wednesday about 200 insurgents attempted to board a train leaving Empire station to capture Colombian officers traveling to Panama City. Marines clubbed the leader with a mishet. guards fired on the insurgents, who fled.
