Belgrade reports a decisive Albanian victory on the frontier with 6000 men under foreign officers capturing Dibra after severe fighting along the border. Sofia dispatches say Turkish troops burned Mustapha Pasha and devastated the Dirkfall area with numerous villagers massacred.
Sept 24 Concord reports attorney Jerome vanished on a mysterious mission related to the Thaw case. Governor Folker considers New York State's requisition for Thaw's surrender and may announce a decision next Tuesday or Wednesday. Thaw remains in federal marshal custody for now.
Indian Henry, Molallas chief, lies dead near Molalla with coroner's verdict noncommittal. Henry Clark, a half breed, is in custody after witnesses say the Indian feared him and tried to flee. The body shows a head wound from a stone, prints match Clark's shoes, and the late chief, 67, had notable status in the county. He left a son, Fred, in a timber camp near Winlock, Washington, and was honored during the Molalla parade after the Portland Eugene and Western celebration.
In Tokio on September 24 the University of Washington baseball team saw a loss to Waseda by a 9 to 8 score after a string of victories.
Fifty thousand tons of bituminous coal burned destroying Crom Coal Company's buildings in Milwaukee. Two hundred tons of anthracite caught fire but most was saved. Loss estimated around $500,000. The blaze caused extensive damage to the coal yard and adjacent facilities.
Friends of gravity water urge allowing the water commission to finish its work on the gravity system before any abolition. Local supporters warn abolition now could delay the project and jeopardize the city’s water ambitions. Tomorrow night the charter committee will vote on the proposal before the plan goes to voters.

Tacoma September 24 fire at University of Puget Sound gymnasium and domestic science building destroyed the structures and damaged six nearby residences. Loss estimated at 20000 dollars. Cornelius B Keesting collapsed and died from exertion while attempting to save his home.

In Trenton on September 24 President Wilson's candidate led the Democratic primaries for governor, with three nominations: Democratic Fielder, Republican Stokes, and Progressive Colby. The Democrats also carried the legislative ticket and state committee contest. Progressives cast the smallest vote, suggesting many have returned to the Republicans, which Stokes says could yield Republican victory in November.

In Benton on September 24, rioting followed the murder of two American musicians by foreigners after a Polish dance. All foreigners are attacked by American miners, Fujinese homes are barricaded, and martial law is declared. More troops are expected as the mood remains violent.
Sept 24 crowds on Walla Walla streets watched a fire in the Quinn building escalate from the Dr. A W Ely laboratory on the second floor to walls and ceiling. A taxi backing away from a chemical truck struck a street car. no injuries were reported. The blaze was brought under control, damaging Dr Ely's office and valuable apparatus.
Hamburg reports Graf Waldorse sank the Swedish freighter Sorge of 738 tons after a collision in the Elbe. Sorge carried no passengers. crew rescued. Liner not seriously damaged. Also noted: South Dakota recorded 600 fewer deaths in 1912 than in 1911 amid population growth.
Practically all other business at the county clerk office has been suspended to register voters. The rush began yesterday morning and may require late hours to finish. Four blanks must be filled per voter for water, clerk, precinct, and city recover. 46 voters were registered yesterday and today is expected to more than double. Women join men in the rush, though they take longer to answer questions about age. One woman claimed “Over the legal age,” and later said “Twenty-seven” while another whispered “forty-seven if she’s a day.”
