Hie Hepebtican Compaen Hellefontale September 23. The only state campaign of the Republican party opens this afternoon with Judge Duncan Dow presiding. Thousands of Republicans from the region assemble to witness the first gun of the campaign. The governor and Senator J. B. Forner will speak. Also an ad promotes Dr King’s New Life Pills a remedy for headaches and constipation at Tallman & Co drug store.
Milton Sut 22 notes visitors and locals traveling to Portland southern California and Montana for visits and events. Letters report many attendees from Milton and nearby towns, college open house and chapel exercises led by ministers with talks and readings, including Rev J J McAllister and Misa Jones.
President Shannon delivered an opening address that drew appreciation from all. Special music featured the choir and a duet by Mrs. G W Miller and Miss Inex Pheipe. The chapel was decorated with roses ivy and other plants, though ivy debris scattered outside.
In a letter to State Auditor Bragaw yesterday, Anestor Daggett alleges trouble with the Pacific State Telephone and Telegraph system in Daggett County. He cites a drainage of poles and wires and questions the cost of 208 miles of line while the assessors claim 180 miles. The State Auditor is asked to explain, with Pragaw promising the docket can search the matter.
