Battle of Walls Walla on Walla Walla River 1855 legends
A Portland journalist recounts the 1855 clash on the Walla Walla River between whites and natives. More than 2000 Indians attacked about 300 Un trained Abrezon volunteers, capturing cabins, fighting in small squads, and using a captured howitzer with brutal exchanges. The narrative details brutal hand to hand struggles, key deaths including Captain Bennett and B.B. Kelso, prisoner handling, and fierce frontline conditions over several days with repeated charges, retreats, and reinforcements.
