Rochester Minn Sept 21 Minnesota Governor John A Johnson thrice elected died at St Marys hospital after intestinal trouble following an operation. He rose from poverty to national prominence and was considered a possible 1912 presidential candidate. He was 48 and had four operations including appendicitis. Mrs Johnson collapsed at his bedside as he passed. Johnson was born July 28 1861 at St Peter Minn and began work in a drug store before entering public life.
