Indian status on the Umatilla Reservation questioned
An opinion by the bureau of Indian affairs states that Umatilla Indians are citizens and may vote but remain under many laws and regulations. The piece notes tax rules, voting hesitancy, limited franchise use, and the hybrid citizenship status between white and noncitizen Indians. 46 reservation men served in World War I.
