Council Awards Sewer Contract and Street Improvements
The council awarded Charles W. Connor & Son the north side sewer extension contract and Warren Construction the West Webb Street pavement project. Sealed bids had Connor & Son as the lowest, with pipe costs set and manholes and flush tanks priced. The street work uses gravel bitulithic pavement at $1.45 per square yard. The council declined a foot bridge for the river near Binnie street due to cost and season, but approved replacing a wooden foot bridge near Post street. A suffrage petition sought Anna Shaw to speak, but the venue was deemed impractical and referred to the street committee. An offer to decorate the city hall was referred to the House committee, and levee repairs were expected to finish soon.
