Rev J M Cornelison to Return Home Today in Pendleton

Rev J M Cornelison former Presbyterian missionary to the Umatilla reservation arrives in Pendleton from France this afternoon on No 7. He left Alychurce to become secretary for the M C A and has been in France on official duties. A delegation of friends will greet him upon arrival this afternoon.

Despain and Lee acquire the F M Griggs Grocery at 200 Kant Court after six years, forming Diespain and Laery or Vis intention. Griggs says he is not leaving town and plans for the future are undecided. He ends his business relations with the store at noon today and expresses gratitude to the public.

Seattle Bid Farewell as Wilson Heads to Portland

President Wilson faced a large Seattle sendoff with crowds along the hotel route to the railway station. A young woman kissed his hand in the farewell moment before the train to Portland, as labor leaders presented their view on strike conditions to the president.

Returned Soldier Dies in Self Inflicted Wound Near Pendleton

Dort Mc Neecew, 27, World War I veteran from Uniontown Mo, died at 2 10 pm near this city after shooting himself in the abdomen while working on an automobile with Wallace Wilder. He had been discharged from Company E 4th Infantry January 23 1918. Coroner J T Brown impaneled a jury. death ruled self inflicted. He carried $197.23.

Col Theodore Roosevelt Jr May Visit Pendleton Roundup

The Pendleton and Portland organizers push to bring Col Theodore Roosevelt Jr to attend the Pendleton Round-Up. Unofficial reports say he may travel from Portland to Pendleton to speak next Thursday or Wednesday. Local Legion leaders deny confirmation while coordinating with Portland and San Francisco contacts.

Irwin String Arrives Ahead of Pendleton Round-Up Show

A large party led by C. EH Irwin and 25 cowboys and cowgirls, plus two wagon cars with horses, arrived from Seattle by Northern Pacific at 14 40. The group, first major act to reach Pendleton, includes 26 horses from Seattle and 14 from Helena, with roping horses and brokers. George Paer and H W Colling welcomed the party, joined by Paul and Faolan Hastings. Writers and performers from Snowman, Canada, and Cheyenne links noted. Local bands from La Grande and other nearby communities will back three-date show with a 30-piece C W BR M band.

Wilson party travels 57 miles from Union Station to Pendleton for the Idaho Round-Up as W. Swick uses his car and cash from a daytime bank heist plan. Auto crash kills two reporters near Greaham

XTRA PORTLAND Sept 15 report says Benjamin Allen of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Dad Patterson were killed when the automobile they rode in overturned near Greaham while returning from Crown Point. Three other newspaper men were slightly injured as Patterson tried to avoid a collision. Allen’s throat was cut by the windshield in the fatal crash.
