Wheat yields in Wasco cut to sixty percent of average
The Dalles Chronicle reports Wasco county wheat this year will run about 60 percent of the average crop. Last year some fields averaged 40 to 465 bushels with a noted producer claiming a good yield, but current estimates are 12 to 20 bushels, some between 25 and 30. Moisture shortage mainly causes the drop, with some spring sown grain not receiving moisture until late June.
