He reports predatory animals are diminishing as stockmen and hunters note reduction of live stock pests. Heavy Rainfall Adds To September Totals At Local Farm Show

A heavy rain last night and intermittent showers in the afternoon bring September rainfall to 41 inches, nearly a quarter of the normal monthly total. Farmers stockmen and Round-Up boosters anticipate fair days after the storm, though the night remains cloudy and threatening. Today’s high is 70 and low 49.

Wilson Urges Ratification as Pan American Unity Rally

President Wilson spoke to about 6000 in Omaha praising the treaty as a charter of humanity. Army Major Named Assistant in Biological Survey Offices

C. P. Watson returns from service in the Army’s Engineering Division to Pendleton as a new assistant inspector for the U S Biological Survey. An expert hunter and trapper from York Pennsylvania, he also invented the Watson fuse used in World War I and Navy six inch guns. He went overseas in July, was gassed, and later received care at Walter Reed. Mrs. Watson and their children will join him in Pendleton.
