Summer fallow yields compared with stubble in local reports
Farmers largely agree that summer fallow fares worse than stubble. Chester Avery reaped 25 bushels per acre from cutter‑stubble, Monroe Childers 23 bushels, and Reu ben Taylor about 20 bushels. The Corvallia Gazette notes college men warned that summer fallow harms land, likely vindicated.
