Washington's New Natural Wonder Cave Near Pend Oreille
A seven person party including Mrs. Matelia B. Hall and Mrs. Billeabeth Lattimore of Spokane plus Sylvester Rumsey, Myrtle Conrad, A. B. Conrad, Floyd Z. and E. KB. Alexander explored the Pend Oreille river cave from a Frigo-Standard mine 12 miles from Boundary by rail. They walked six miles to reach the entrance and described a white dolomite chamber with stalactites, ladders of limestone, mystic galleries, a speaking tube to the fairies chamber, baths and arched alcoves often compared to an artistically carved underground palace. The journey covered about 746 feet of passage with a main cavern, several side passages, and a number of marble-like baths and architectural formations.
