Hold Coin Rich Mine Promises Profit in Oregon
Pendleton owners T W Ayers A J Stillman Dr T B H White and others oversee the Hold Coin mine in Tye valley Baker County. Two weeks of development yield 20 new workers, a 30 day W and W mill to be installed, about 1000 tons on dump, with platinum ore assays near 1 650 to 1 60 per ton. The mine stands as Oregon's sole platinum producer and a Washington survey notes no other platinum discoveries in the state. The mine is expected to cover operating costs.

Leaving Nome Southward Sea Lift Declares End of Season
Seattle reports 148 passengers arrive on the White Star Liner Ohio from Nome and about a quarter of a million dollars in treasure. The Ohio left Nome August 23 at 7 15 p m and will return north on September 4 for two more trips before navigation ends in October. More cargo offered than the ship can carry, Nome fleet vessels no longer accept.

Fairbanks cargo movement as river closes
It is anticipated that the lower river will close before delivery. Much Fairbanks cargo remained on Seattle docks by Nome vessels and will be forwarded via White Pass & Yukon and upper river routes. Returning Nome steamers will bring large numbers of passengers, with a rush expected by October.
