Salt Lake Utah Sept 2 Three Rio Grande passenger trains delayed since Tuesday by washouts in Utah arrived with about 2000 passengers on board and many stories of privations were told. One traveler said he subsisted for 50 hours on peanuts and popcorn. Collections were taken to feed women and children without means. Eight trains have been snagged at Green River station and marines en route to the Pacific coast have passed the time by playing ball games.

A cloudburst washed out the Oregon Railroad and Navigation track near Unity about five miles from Durkee. Train service is badly disrupted with 1200 passengers held at La Grande and delays across Pendleton.
