Reports say Prince Ii is critically injured after an assassination attempt and may be dead. Official dispatches credit the act to a native Korean avenger of relatives execution, while authorities continue to announce condition updates and political turmoil grips Japan.
London dispatch reports the Japanese embassy received a cable from Tokyo confirming Prince Ito is dead. Earlier hesitation by the Tokyo government kept the news uncertain, with officials framing the demise as a critical condition rather than official confirmation.
Prince Ito, former resident general of Korea and prominent Japanese diplomat, was shot at Harbin railway station by a Korean assassin. Officials report his condition as critical with speculation of death. the attacker claimed Ito had executed relatives. Director Tanaka of the Manchurian railway was also wounded. The event follows previous attempts on Ito's life during his Manchuria mission.

Frederick Gebhardt alias Otto Mueller faces grand jury next week after confessing to the 18 month old killing of his wife Anna Luther. The skeleton was found near Islip and identified by a Hamburg jewelry bill of sale. Police traced him from Europe to Astoria, Long Island, via police lingo tools. He admitted the crime on confrontation.
A petition filed in federal court seeks immediate imprisonment of banker John R. Walsh for wrecking. The Chicago National Bank of Chicago is cited, with Prosecutor Sims filing the petition. A decision was expected the following day.
Ed Newton of Baker is held on charges of stealing a valuable span of geldings. Arrested yesterday by Sheriff Ed Rand with help from Sheriff Taylor and deputies, the horses were stolen Oct 1, twice sold, and traced from Baker to Pendleton and Seattle. Hoff, a Baker merchant, accompanied the suspect and the horses were moved across mountains for profit.
A winter land opening near Hermiston will throw open 60 twenty acre homesteads watered by a new two mile pipe line. The post water supply will arrive next spring, attracting bona fide settlers with low risk of flooding and near town advantages. Estimated initial cash outlay runs around 200 dollars for filing fees water rights and early costs. Land nearby is selling at 100 to 156 dollars per acre, many superior to the new tract.
Gaston Tompin of Paris, linked to the Apaches, was shot dead in a revolver duel with Jean Picard, a dye works foreman, after a quarrel at Picard's home where Tompin had been sheltered following an alleged escape from French police. The Paris police had offered a reward for Tompin's apprehension.
